Section B: General Knowledge (50 Marks)

The notice does not publish a GK breakdown. Use these as broad practice areas, not fixed official weights:

  • Bihar history, geography, culture, economy, administration, institutions and current state initiatives.
  • Indian history and freedom movement, geography, Constitution, polity, governance and economy.
  • General science, environment and everyday applications.
  • National and international current affairs, government programmes, awards, sports, science and technology. Refresh near the exam.

Reasoning and standalone computer awareness are not separately specified in the notice; label them supplementary. Keep full mocks at 100 Library Science + 50 GK unless BSEB publishes a revision.

Preparation Tips: Use Your 150 Minutes Well

  • Try this practice plan: 90 minutes for Library Science, 45 minutes for GK, and 15 minutes to review. Adjust it in mocks to fit your pace; this is a suggestion, not an official rule.
  • Answer easy questions first. Mark hard ones and return later. Keep an eye on the timer at each section change.
  • Since the notice says there is no negative marking, try every question after checking your answers.
  • Revise short notes on the Five Laws, DDC/CC, cataloguing codes, library services, Acts and ICT terms. Practise MCQs and full mocks in CBT format.

Useful books and study material: S. R. Ranganathan, The Five Laws of Library Science; Krishan Kumar, Theory of Classification; and M. P. Satija, The Theory and Practice of the Dewey Decimal Classification System. Use your university BLIS notes and the free IGNOU BLIS study material for other units. These titles appear in university LIS course references; choose editions that match your syllabus and budget. See the University of Delhi classification course references.
